Have any of you ever seen someone wearing those ripped, worn out jeans? You know, the ones with the slashes and the spills, that look “distressed” or whatever they call ’em? I wonder how they make those. Is there a man who just sits in a warehouse, and his job is to drop some bleach on jeans, cut em up with a knife, and send them to shops?
That seems like a great job. I would love to do something like that. You can spend your days taking the anger of your troubles out on jeans that someone wants to buy just so that they can look emo or, ya know, cool, if that’s your style.
It’s kind of weird if you ask me. Especially counting the fact that they often cost more than normal jeans. You are literally paying more for less jean. Is jean a unit, a measurement for the amount of denim in a cubic meter? That should probably be recognized.
I wonder if it is cheaper to buy jeans, and just pour some bleach on them and cut them with a knife, good old fashioned style. In fact, after a little research, you can get all that for about $17. Seems pretty cheap, considering that a pair of “distressed” jeans cost around sixty to eighty bucks, retail price. I’d honestly suggest that you just do it yourself. You’d save a good twenty dead presidents, which you can use to purchase other edgy gear.
To be frank with you, I don’t get the concept to begin with. But, ya know, whatever floats your boat.
